Go Beyond Long Distance Relationship With God

Some people would say they have relationship with God but theirs is like a long distance relationship where you have to use tools like phone, internet, laptop etc. For they have greatly rely on these tools and chosen to relate with God from afar (at least that is better than no relationship at all).

But God wants more, you know what they say about long distance relationships — it doesn't always last. It is often difficult to keep, you have that desire to be with the one you love, to be in his/her presence. Oh, the sweetness of just being close to the one you love, to have him/her sitting close to you, to be able to touch him/her.

Yes, the Lord is having that same desire, He is tired of you relying on tools and keeping a distance. Jesus died to tear the veil so that you can come into the inner chamber with the Lord. This is how he wants the relationship to be; intimate, spirit to spirit. So He is saying to you today put aside your tools and means of relationship with God, yes your church attendance, your tithe and offering, your religious observations, your bible reading, your devotionals and the many other things you call "relationship with God".

Come now, there is no longer any distance between you and the Lord. It is foolishness to be in the bedroom with your wife and then pick up a phone to call her — nobody does that. Yet look at us after Jesus have torn the veil you still hear Christians saying things like, "I hear God through my pastor and I am satisfied with that... I hear God through my Bible and I love it that way... I get direction from God by putting out a fleece". Rubbish!

I am sorry, but you can do more than that. You are alive to God in the spirit, stop acting so dead. Stop acting like you cannot go beyond this flesh, why then did Jesus gave you life? You think he gave you life so that you can sing hallelujah, come on, stop acting so naive. He gave you life that you might be alive to God in the spirit, he torn the veil that you might approach Him spirit to spirit.

Enough with being so overdependent on the tools and the instruments, you are in the inner chamber with Him now. Stop depending on phone to talk to your lover, it is just absurd. Look straight into His eyes right now and talk to Him. Touch him and let him touch you, feel his body, his heart. Let your body touch His, that is how far intimacy takes you, it leaves you restless until you go to the depth where you stand naked, having your body touching His body.

No, you will not be satisfied until you get there. There is something in you that will keep crying for more till you have no clothes on and you are with Him spirit to spirit. Now this is what the Lord wants, that is why he has put his Spirit in you to pull you to this place. If you are alive to the Spirit then you already feel that pulling. Yield yourself, run as he pulls you, give it all you got and it will bring you to the inner chamber naked, until you know God spirit to spirit.

Breaking The Limitations We've Set For Ourselves

Our inability to differentiate between foretaste and fullness has caused us to limit ourselves in experiencing God. Foretaste is a sovereign act of God and because we count all things spiritual as foretaste we have developed the culture of just sitting down and waiting. Those who cannot wait have jumped into prayer, thinking that they can use prayer to force God's hand and make Him give them these things.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" (Eph 1:3).

He has blessed you with all the spiritual blessings; all the spiritual gifts and all spiritual abilities (or powers) in heaven. You do not need to wait for God to give you and you do not need to try to force His hand and make He give you, He has already given you in Christ. It is Finished! He has finished all His blessings on you, there is literally nothing left to give. It is all in Christ and as you grow in Christ you will grow into these things.

"Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”" (John 6:29).

In Christ all works has ended, the only work that God is asking you to do is believe in Christ. Yes, believe in the reality in Christ.

Christ is the power of God and he lives in you, believing it!

In Christ you have been blessed with every spiritual blessings (which includes every spiritual experience, gifts, abilities and powers), believe it!

In Christ you are seated with Father in heaven, believe it! given

The only work you are required to do is believe and as you grow in this faith you will see manifestation. It is ignorance plus unbelief that made us say things like, "well, the Holy Spirit didn't give me that gift so it is not for me". Yes, we often say stupid things like that, "the prophetic is not for me, I was not the gift... Healing is not for me, I do not have the gift... Working miracles are for the evangelist, I am just an ordinary Christian", and so on we go with foolish talk.

Stop being so ignorant, you are the son of the Almighty, called to do the greater works. The supernatural is your normal life, you originated from eternity in Christ. Before the foundation of the world was made you were already in Christ, in Christ you existed before time, you exist before and above the natural world. You are not subject to the elements, they are subject to you. Can't you see where you are seated, can't you see all powers are beneath your feet, and all the authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you because you are one with Christ.

Just believe, that is the only work you are to do, is that too much for you?

Unbelief is the only thing limiting you, God wants to have sons manifesting and you are holding Him back. The Father is having something less than the new testament He proposed and He is not happy about it. Do you know the Father's heart? Do you want to make Him happy, to please Him? Then believe in Christ and grow in the faith of him. Believe in these things whether you like them or not, it is not your choice to pick and choose, all that you are called to do is simply believe. I would ask the question again, is believing too much for you?

Experiencing God

God is not theology, He is not doctrine, He is not religion, rather He is spirit. Therefore, thinking that experiencing theology, doctrine or religion is the same as experiencing God is false. We have bought a lie, we are after religion, and those who are not after religion are after theology and the so called "correct doctrine".

I have seen many with very good theology and doctrine yet they do not know God. Yes, they have a head knowledge of Him, and they have conform to their doctrine, if you look at them you can see very good virtues in them, but all that cannot be equated to knowing God. My dear, anyone can have good virtues, go to the Buddha and you will see really good virtues, even atheists exhibit good virtue. All those things cannot be equated to knowing God.

God is spirit, and to experience Him is to experience the spirit. Yes, I know how many of us think, I used to think like that too. All I wanted was to be a normal Christian, I didn't want any extraordinary or supernatural thing, I just want to be normal. But normal Christianity is knowing God spirit to spirit.

I remember how I fought when I was being dragged into the spirit. But the Holy Spirit was fierce on me; the more I struggle the more it got worse. Then it came to me that if this is the Holy Spirit then it would be wrong to resist him. So I did everything I can to find out if this was the Holy Spirit pulling me into these experiences and immediately I was convinced that it was the Holy Spirit I gave in and yielded myself.

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24).

This is normal Christianity, this is what God wants for the new testament people. He wants to interact with them spirit to spirit because he is spirit. He is tired of interacting with His people through things, He wants to get more intimate with His woman. He wants to remove the veil and bring her into the inner chamber, He wants to be naked with her. Just Him and His woman, no veil, no clothes, no nothing, just flesh to flesh (or in His case, spirit to spirit). The word "truth" in that verse means to be naked and exposed, to be totally unveiled, hiding nothing.

Can't you see that this is what He wants, why do we continue to look for veils to hide behind? We are too scared to come to Him spirit to spirit so we hide behind a book, or a pastor, or a religious activity. Enough with the busy body, come in with the Lord. Come into the inner chamber, take off the veil, be naked, be vulnerable, that is how intimacy works. It is love and trust that makes us remove everything and become vulnerable.

We remove all our aids, all our instruments of worship, all those tools that we use to assist ourselves in the worship of God. Yes, we remove it all and become vulnerable, intimacy is a scary thing. If you do not have enough trust you cannot get intimate. You come naked without anything to beautify you, or to aid you or assist you in the worship or fellowship with God.

You are not ugly, you are not dumb, you are beautiful the way you are. He is the one that has made you and He made you as glorious as He is. You do not need anything to assist His glory in you, you don't need anything to assist His intelligence in you, no not a book. No, remove the mentality that without that book, that pastor, that religious rites you cannot enjoy fellowship with the Lord. It is a lie, His glory in you is enough, now come boldly in your nakedness. Come touch Him spirit to spirit, for God is spirit and to truly experience Him you must do it spirit to spirit.

Handling Spiritual Things

In a previous post I stated that one can attain the things of the Spirit either by foretaste or by fullness. Foretaste is handling spiritual things in the state of immaturity, while fullness is apprehending spiritual things in a more mature state. I feel there is a need to write this posts because there is a fear associated with handling spiritual things and this is because we do not know the difference between foretaste and fullness.

We have attributed all things spiritual to the gifts of the Spirit (foretaste) and some have said they don't want the gifts of the Spirit, they prefer the fruit of the Spirit, because you can have the gifts of the Spirit and yet demonstrate very bad character and all that immaturity. And some even say all that power (the gifts of the Spirit) corrupts you, and even cause you to fall, and as a result these Christians run away from the things of the Spirit.

Foretaste is given by the Spirit to the immature in order to push them to grow. But sadly some remain immature with that gift and it becomes a problem for them. The carnality in them, that dirty thing that spreads death wherever it touches, comes and touch their gifts. And these gifts that were given to edify the ecclesia becomes a thing of division. We see all this playing out in the ecclesia in Corinth. They were blessed with all kinds of spiritual gifts but they refused to mature and the carnality in their midst began to use those gifts as a means for division.

Some of them said they are healers and they don't want to associate themselves with worthless tongue speakers, some said they see visions and they don't like those who prophesy without seeing visions and so division sets in. Paul had to tell them that it is by the same Spirit that one prophesy and the other heal and yet another speaks in tongues and another have word of knowledge and so on. He had to explain to them that these gifts shouldn't cause division but rather bring them together to edify each other and experience Christ in oneness.

The problem is not with the gifts but it is their immature state. Foretaste is not bad if you are vigorously pursuing maturity, but if you remain immature the devil will see opportunity to come in and use that gift to harm you and the body of Christ. However, this problem is not found in fullness because you got the power in the state of maturity and you have developed the virtue and the character to be able to handle the power.

Let us quickly go to the area of seeing into the spirit and let us look at how this ability is handled in foretaste and in fullness. There are some Christian who wake up one day and realize that they have the ability to see visions and spirit, angels and the spiritual world. In their state of immaturity they are given this gift, but it is meant to push them to grow speedily. However, if they remain immature this gift can become a problem to them. The devil can disguise himself as an angel and mislead them. Or they many see something in the spirit and interpret it wrongly and enter into serious problem because of the wrong interpretation.

All of this problem is not found when one is mature, they are only a result of immaturity. Through the process of maturity you develop the senses to know God and walk with Him more perfectly. The devil cannot just come, disguise himself and then mislead you — you will just know it is the devil. Those who are immature know things by there appearance, if it looks like Jesus they immediately think it is Jesus. But someone who have walked with Jesus for a long time and have come to know him intimately you will be able to recognize him no matter what form he appears.

"Solid food is for those who are mature, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." (Heb 5:14)

Through that relationship with him you have developed this ability to know him by the spirit. You don't rely on what you see, you can perceive him, you have the senses, you have exercise these senses, and you can tell if it is him or not, you KNOW him. There is something that God has put in you to enable you to tell if the voice you are hearing or the appearance you are seeing is actually God or not.

"the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out., And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him:" (John 10:3-5).

There is something that Jesus has put in the sheep that causes them to flee from the stranger. And as you mature you will become awaken to this ability. There is something in you that has made the stranger repulsive, you can't stand him, no matter how he disguises himself. He can come in glory and look like Jesus but you will just know inside of you, you can feel the darkness inside him and it is repulsive to you, you just want to flee, you can't stand it. The immature haven't fully developed these senses and that is why they can be deceived, this is why maturity should be your highest priority.

The problem is not with the ability but the state of maturity God wants you to grow and as you grow you will begin to interact with Him spirit to spirit, it is just normal. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6), you are born of the Spirit, you are spirit and as you mature you will grow into this spirit that you are. You will begin to interact with God beyond the elements of the natural world, spirit to spirit, and you will not be misled, for you have developed the senses to discern that which is God and that which is evil. No matter how much the devil tries to disguise himself you will just know it is him, it is not a matter of quoting scripture.

Even when John said we should test all spirits he didn't say the bible is how you test all spirits, go and read that place very well, it is in first John chapter four. God has already put in you everything you need to be able to recognize Him, he has given you the intelligence, all you have to do is grow into it. YOU ARE NOT DUMB, you have the intelligence to know your Father, you are born of God, you cannot be unintelligent. Yes, you can be immature but grow up, do not remain in that state of immaturity where you will be struggling to tell if a spirit is God or not. GROW UP, draw close to God, know Him, become awaken to the ability in you to always know and recognize Him, the ability that causes you to flee from the stranger no matter the disguise he is putting on. Just draw close and know Him, the Spirit is there to help you mature.

Foretaste And Fullness

In the Bible you would find the principle of foretaste and fullness. Foretaste is having a taste or an experience of the fullness before you enter into maturity. It is a temporal experience that you have in a state of immaturity which is only meant to be experienced when you get to a certain fullness or perfection in Christ. It is a tradition of God to give a foretaste before bringing us to fullness. The wisdom behind it is that the foretaste makes us hunger and pursue the fullness. God desires nothing less than fullness for us; He wants us to experience his fullness and all He has to offer (such a loving Father). We can find the principle of foretaste and fullness in the Scripture.

"The Lord now said to Moses, Send out men to explore the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the Israelites. Send one leader from each of the twelve ancestral tribes. So Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He sent out twelve men, all tribal leaders of Israel, from their camp in the wilderness of Paran" (Numbers 13:1-3).

The Israelites were about to enter into the land of Canaan - the land of God's fullness, where they would enjoy the fullness of the covenant promise. Just before they entered the land God asked them to go to the Promised Land, explore it and have a taste of it. God asked Moses to select one leader from each of the twelve ancestral tribes. The twelve leaders would represent the whole of Israel and they are to go and have a foretaste of the land i.e to explore and experience the land even before it became their possession. The whole of Israel through these twelve would have a foretaste of the land of God's fullness.

Foretaste is the sovereign work of God, He takes hold of you by the Spirit and causes you to experience certain things that you are meant to experience when you are mature in Christ. The gift of the Spirit is a foretaste

"And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory," (Rom 8:23).

The Holy Spirit is also called the Helper, he helps us to experience things that are meant for us in maturity. The gift of the Spirit are powers that are a foretaste of the fullness in Christ. The gift of the Spirit allows us in our state of immaturity to manifest powers that await us when we get mature in Christ (I explained this properly in a post titled "Christ Is The Power Of God").

"the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses" (Rom 8:12).

In our weakness, in our state of immaturity the Spirit comes and allow us experience things that we are suppose to experience when we mature in the fullness of Christ. However, there are some people that never experience the foretaste but as they grow in Christ they begin to see these manifestation in their lives — this is not the gift of the Spirit, it is just maturity. Therefore, there are two ways to attain the things of the Spirit; one is Foretaste, and the other is Fullness. From the example I gave about the journey of the Israelites, although through the 12 spies they had a foretaste of the promised land (the land of fullness) yet they still need to press in till they enter into the land, possess it, and experience the fullness of the land.

Even though you experience the foretaste you still need to press into God and mature in order to enter into fullness. To experience fullness we must strive into maturity in Christ. The more we mature in Christ the more we would experience the fullness of Christ. Maturity involves walking very closely with God and growing in faith. So first comes foretaste then after that we mature and start experiencing fullness. This is something that many do not understand; foretaste is not the real thing, it is only meant to push you into fullness. However, it is not necessary to have foretaste before you can enter into fullness. As you pursue Christ and grow into him you will enter into fullness whether or not you experience the foretaste. The Holy Spirit only uses the foretaste to help us in our state of immaturity.

What I am saying is that you don't have to have the gifts of the Spirit before you can demonstrate the power of God.

"Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1Cor 1:24).

Christ is the power of God and as you grow into the fullness of Christ you will definitely demonstrate the power of God whether you have the gifts of the Spirit or not. I wrote a post to differentiate between the gifts of the Spirit and Christ the power of God, the power is titled "Christ Is The Power Of God", if you haven't read it I will advise you read it. There is a difference between the "help" of the Spirit (foretaste) and the expression of maturity (fullness). Anyone can demonstrate the gifts of the Spirit no matter how immature they are, it is a grace, a sovereign act of God given to the undeserving. But to have fullness you must strive and mature.

So we can experience the things of the Spirit either through foretaste or fullness. You can be sovereignly impacted with the gift or you can strive in your walk with God and grow in faith in order to experience that thing. Most of the spiritual experiences I have were gotten through fullness. I was never lucky with gifts of the Spirit, all the Spirit did for me is to push me in my walk with God and teach me to develop my faith, for without faith it is impossible to walk with God and the greater your faith is the deeper you will walk with God. So the Spirit had to develop my faith so that I can experience this deep walk with God and as he develops my faith I began to enter into certain spiritual dimensions. This is fullness, it is not the same as foretaste, it is only gotten in a deep walk with God. You can be deep in sin and yet experience foretaste but it is not so when it comes to fullness.

The inability to distinguish between foretaste and fullness has prevented many Christians from experiencing the things of the Spirit. They think everything is by foretaste, they fast and pray for the Spirit to come upon them and give them certain experiences or abilities. But this same thing can be gotten as you patiently walk with God and develop faith. Although foretaste is a wonderful thing, but God wants fullness for us, we wants us to grow and be mature in Christ.
